Nellie R. (Dennis) Rhyne, 97, Robinson, Illinois went to be with her Lord at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at her residence. Her son Clifford was at her bedside. Born in Willow Hill, Illinois on January 26, 1913, she was the daughter of Guy Sempsrott and Mary (Hurt) Sempsrott. Nellie graduated from Oblong Township HIgh School – Class of 1931. She was a hard working farmer and farm wife. She was a member of the Hardinville United Church. Nellie enjoyed farming, driving tractors and trucks. She loved to be outside. Nellie raised a family and helped many neighbors when help was needed. For many years was a member of the Leeper Chapel Methodist Church until it closed. Nellie will be missed by many friends and relatives.
On April 3, 1932, she married Richard Harold “Bud” Dennis, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1973. On July 3, 1986, she married V. Harold Rhyne, who preceded her in death on July 6, 1994. Also preceding her in death were her parents; half-brother, Logan Sempsrott; two step-brothers, Roy & Dean Shaner; one step-daughter, Beverly Romer and one sister-in-law, Mary Semzar.
Nellie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Clifford & Lucille “Lucy” Dennis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kathryn & Kenneth Douglas and Carol Sue & Earl Redmond; four step-daughters, Jean & Boyd Arnold, Barbara Rhyne, Shirley Rhyne and Deloris & Bud Roether; nine grandchildren, Micheal Dennis, Carl Dennis, Richard Dennis, Larry Joe Dennis, Randy Tracy, Kathy Bush, Brian Redmond, Diana Southwick and Denise Sullivan; ten step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; twenty-four step-great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Aden (Semzar) Sempsrott; one step-brother, Milo Shaner; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Guyer and Olivia Dennis; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Nelle Belle Manning.
Rev. Howard Bell will be officiating the funeral service. Burial will be in the Shire Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
